A 20 year Canadian Armed Forces veteran and Sniper Team Leader, Jody Mitic lost both his legs when he stepped on a landmine in Afghanistan on his second tour. After only a few short months of rehab, Jody was up and walking again. A year after his injury, Jody made national media headlines here at home when he completed the Achilles 5km run on two prosthetic legs, following that he completed the Canada Army Run half marathon. Not only was Jody’s accomplishment a personal milestone on his road of recovery but it also became a major event that helped inspire change in how the military views and handles injured veterans and their ability to be of service.

In 2013, Jody continued to push himself harder, competing in the Amazing Race Canada with his brother Cory. Coming in at an astonishing second place, he instantly became a national model of perseverance, strength and hope.

A recognized and sought-after motivational speaker and role model for Canadians, Jody is a respected advocate for wounded veterans, people with disabilities and amputees. He founded the Never Quit Foundation and currently sits on the Board of Directors of ‘Won with One’. He also has helped raise upwards of a million dollars for numerous local and national charities.

Jody and his wife Alannah, who grew up in Blackburn Hamlet, have a fun and busy home in Chapel Hill with their two daughters, Aylah 5 years old and Kierah 2 years old, two big dogs and a cat. Jody is currently a member of the PTA at his daughter’s school.
